SK Telecom, China to Co-Develop TD-SCDMA Technologies

Korean SK Telecom has signed an MoU with China's NDRC (National Development and Reform Commission) to jointly develop 3G mobile technologies based on China's homegrown TD-SCDMA (Time Division Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access) standard. Under the deal, SK Telecom is to set up a joint research center in China; moreover, an experimental TD-SCDMA station is planned in Pundang of Korea, to be established in 2007. Besides cooperation on the development of TD-SCDMA, both sides will seek collaboration in mobile technologies beyond 3G.
